Tuesday 27, Wednesday 28, Thursday 29, Friday 30 August, 10.00-4.00pm

Tutor: Michelle Avison, Rob White

Cost: £360

This four day course will take you on an exploration of prints and printmaking. It is designed to both give you inspiration from looking at artists' work, but also by giving you the opportunity to draw in and around London, to learn from looking at prints and the work of artist printmakers and to explore print technique by making a series of images across different techniques. Starting on day one with a visit to the Tate Prints and Drawings Room, you will look at artists who have been inspired by London, and at a range of different printmaking techniques. You will have the opportunity to draw directly in the Tate Gallery, and then, work outside next to the river and the Houses of Parliament directly onto drypoint plates.

On day 2, you will print the drypoint plates in different ways and alter and add to your images, including adding colour. You will also make a collagraph that can be printed later in the week

On day 3, you will make etching plates in response to the previous work and to the prints that you have looked at. You will make two plates that can be printed together or separately.

Day 4 will be spent reworking and adding to your plates and images to create your own finished series of prints. With plenty of one-to-one time with Michelle and Rob, you will make fantastic progress over the four days and a body of work to be proud of.
