Tutor: Michelle Avison

Cost: £65. Acrylic plate, inks and paper included.

Please bring thin chine collee papers (coloured Japanese/ handmade/ decorative papers/ previously drawn or printed papers).

Work with artist Michelle Avison to explore trace monotype, then print from the drawing that remains on the plate, and introduce stencils and chine collee elements to build up exciting layered one-off prints. Monotype is a great way to develop ideas and move your work on- it is a quick and immediate way of exploring colour, composition, line and mark making. Bring a sketchbook, drawings, photographs or a found image to work from and find out how to use the monotype process to develop your image making. We will use oil based inks on this course- please see our next course, Monotype 2 in March, when we will work specifically with water washable inks and drawing materials, to explore the particular possibilities of those.
